Welcome journalists, and thank you for your interest in Environment Northeast (ENE). ENE is a leading non-profit organization that researches,develops, and advocates for innovative policies that tackle the region’s environmental challenges while promoting sustainable economies.
Founded in Connecticut in 1989, ENE now maintains offices throughout the region in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Prince Edward Island, Canada. Our work is supported by foundations and individual donors.

Areas of Research and Advocacy
The common thread that runs through all of ENE's work is a focus on developing solutions to the climate crisis. All of ENE’s programs—climate change solutions, energy reform, transportation, and forestry/biofuels—promote policies that will reduce carbon emissions and help individual states and the region fulfill their climate action plans and goals.
