CT Climate Change Act Policy Action

Connecticut's 2004 An Act Concerning Climate Change, Public Act No. 04-252:
- Establishes greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals consistent with the regional New England Governors/Eastern Canadian Premier's Action Plan of 1990 levels by 2010, 10% below 1990 levels by 2020 and a long-term reduction of 75-85%
- Establishes a planning mechanism for the state to continue in the development of climate change strategies
- Requires major emitters of greenhouse gases to report annual data to the DEP
- Requires the DEP to report total Connecticut emissions of greenhouse gases on a tri-annual basis
- Requires the state to develop a ‘climate friendly’ list of products and services.
